I was asked to share the impact of meditation in my life so I thought why not post it on my blog? (:
I can say meditation changed completely the way I see things. Everything started when I went to Thailand for the first time in 2011, through Peace Revolution Program.
I used to work as a Cultural producer in a NGOs and civil society projects in Brazil. I was never expecting to win a fellowship to study meditation, specially in Thailand!
Of course I went! And as it was my first trip outside Brazil, I made the opportunity to stay more months than just for the retreat itself.
The experience there gave me a totally different pespective about the buddhist values such as kindness, being generous, do good, and specially what meditation can do with us.
Before I used thing it would be impossible to change the world. I felt constantly small and unable to do somthing really effective. After all the experience in Thailand, now I know I change the world all the time with my counsciouness, thoughts, actions! Specially because it reverberates alll the time in all my relations and enviroments.
Thought meditation we get sensitive enough to feel if your actions are being taken towards the good or if they are being guided by selfish desires.
I could realize the problems we face in the world happens mostly because people are not sensitive to distinguinsh if their on actions are being good or bad, if they are causing damage or not, or either to be sensible and brave enough to admit the projects they are enganged in are working for a real development or just creating more inequality and violence.
Meditation showed me the most valueable thing we can have is my counscioness and if I want to solve problems in the world, I have to take care of my thoughs and actions at the first place.
Meditating changed 180 degrees they way I used to think. Before I would see myself all the time blamming others for what was happening to my life, to the nature, to the world. Meditation tought me how to be self-responsable and also showed me the importance of doing good everywhere I go. The first one to benefit from this, it’s me. But then, this creates a silent wave of love and care around. And I’m seeing this results happening where I go.
Another beautiful thing is that when you enter into this world you start to recognize so many other people on it. Then you don’t feel alone thinking the world is going down, there’s no hope. I work at the light-bright side of the force and there are so many wonderful beings with me, working for the good, for the true and for the true love! Honored, firm and grateful to be part of it.
